Inner Biology, Winter 2004 through Spring 2006
Instructor: Jeff Shaver Email: jshaver@u.washington.edu What is Inner Biology?
Inner Biology was offered to University of Washington students who wanted to share their love for biology with elementary, middle and high school students. This seminar focused on the inquiry method of teaching biology. During seven one-hour seminars students developed biology projects to take out to their tutoring sites and discussed topics related to science education. In addition, students completed 20 hours of tutoring at their tutoring site that could be applied to the 60 hours of tutoring that are required for application to the UW Masters in Teaching Program. If you are interested in programs like Inner Biology please go to Inner Pipeline Over the past three years I have had the pleasure to work with the University of Washington Pipeline Project staff, 40 undergraduate and graduate UW students, and many mentor teachers in the Seattle School District. Through Inner Biology we have been able to connect students in science with our local schools and it has been an honor to be a part of this. Please feel free to use this website as a science education resource and don't hesistate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Jeff Shaver |
